LANDI KOTAL/NOWSHERA/SWABI:Two volunteers of Zakhakhel Amn Lashkar were killed after a landline went off in Landi Kotal tehsil.

Local official sources said the explosion took place when one of the deceased, including Sajid Shah and Yar Khan, stepped on a landmine planted near a bunker in Kata Kanri area of Bazaar Zakhakhel.

They said the two were on the way to an advanced picket in Kata Kanri area for duty.

Later, dozens of Amn Lashkar volunteers showed up and shifted the bodies to their nearby base. The pro-government Zakhakhel lashkar has been fighting the Mangal Bagh-led proscribed Lashkar-i-Islam militant group since 2011 in the Bazaar Zakhakhel area.

FOUR BULLET-RIDDLED BODIES FOUND: The bullet-riddled bodies of four unidentified people were found on the bank of the River Kabul near Amangarh area in Nowshera on Tuesday.

Police said the four were shot in the head from a short range after torture. They said the bodies were later autopsied at District Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera.

Police said it appeared that the four were not shot dead in Nowshera. A week ago, too, bodies of two unidentified people were found at different places of Nowshera.

SPECIAL BRANCH OFFICIAL KILLED: An official of the Special Branch was gunned down at general bus stand in Swabi on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on the day when ban was imposed on pillion riding.

Police said Amjid Ali, head constable of the Special Branch, was on the way to Swat on special duty when two men riding on a motorcycle fired gunshots at him causing his death instantly.

A traffic police official was injured in the same way on Swabi-Mardan Road three days ago. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

However, police suspected militants were behind it.

Amjid was among seven security officials, who were killed by militants in Swabi during the recent past. He had survived a similar attack lately.

Swabi City police station registered a case against unidentified attackers and began investigation. However, no arrests were made by night.

The official, who left behind a son and widow, was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard. Also, DPO Swabi Sajjad Khan ordered crackdown on unregistered motorcyclists across the district.
