QUETTA: Political crisis in Balochistan took a new turn on Sunday when Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi accepted resignations of 20 provincial ministers belonging to PPP and PML-Q.

“We support Nawabzada Tariq as opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly,” Sardar Aslam told reporters at governor house.

He said all like minded members have decided in principle to block the way of any partial caretaker chief minister in the province.

Earlier in the day, a cabinet meeting, called by Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, was postponed after losing the majority in the Balochistan cabinet.

According to a source in the governor house, Governor Magsi has accepted resignations of ministers. Talking to media, Mir Sadiq Umrani said Nawab Raisani has now lost majority in the house.

However, opposition leader in assembly Tariq Magsi told Dawn.Com that the governor must ask Chief Minister Raisani to seek vote of confidence since the number of opposition was being increased.

In the meantime 13 ministers from ruling JUI- F and BNP-Awami have also submitted their resignations. However, the governor has not accepted their resignations as yet.

The ministers whose resignations are accepted include PPP Balochistan Mir Sadiq Umrani, Jan Ali Changezai, Babu Amin Umrani, Asfandyar Kakar, PML-Q ministers Aman Notezai, Habib Muhammad Hassani, Sobia Kiran Kibzai, independents Sardar Aslam Bizenji and others.
