LANDI KOTAL, Sept 13: Eight persons including four militants were killed in two separate incidents in different areas of Khyber Agency on Thursday. Officials said that four tribesmen, affiliated with a militant group, were killed when their vehicle was targeted by a roadside explosive device in Bhukarh area of Bazaar-Zakhakhel on Thursday morning. The blast destroyed the vehicle completely.

Two of the killed tribesmen were identified as Khair Mohammad and Meera Khan while names of the remaining two deceased could not be ascertained.

In Akkakhel, four members of a family were killed and two others received critical injuries when a mortar shell fired from an unspecified direction fell on the house of Haji Said Karim. The injured were shifted to Peshawar for treatment.

Also in Akkakhel, unidentified militants blew up the house of Noman Afridi, who was said to be associated with the local peace committee.

In Landi Kotal, Khasadar Force destroyed 98 plastic cans of locally made liquor. The contraband was recently resized from a house in Zakhakhel area during a raid. All the seized cans were torched in an open compound in the presence of officials of political administration and tribal elders.

In Peshawar, suspected militants blew up a government primary school for boys in Mashoki area on Wednesday night.

An official of Badhber police station said that the school was located area near the border of Khyber Agency. He said that a bomb was planted at the building that went off after midnight.

The official said that several schools had been blown up in the area during the past few weeks but no accused were arrested so far as they could easily cross the border into the tribal region.

In Swabi, a private educational institution was blown up by unidentified persons in tehsil Chota Lahor on Thursday.

Police said that an explosive device was planted at the building of Quaid International Public School on Swabi-Jahangira road that exploded early on Thursday. The blast created panic and fear among the residents of the area.

Leaders of various political parties visited the institution and expressed sympathy with the management of the school. The management of the school has asked the students to come to the school on Friday as usual.
