Between the flying kameezes and fake lashes off Madison Avenue, Hamid Latif, colour director at Vidal Sassoon, and Asimyar Tiwana held the first fashion show at the Pakistan Consulate in New York, the fashion capitol of the world.

And to match the fashion runways of Karachi and Lahore, Latif and Tiwana brought in celebrities of the fashion and media industry in Pakistan.

The show was hosted by Annie Ali Khan who introduced the Fashion House of Umar Sayeed and other designers such as Raani Emaan. Each show was scattered with the likes of Pakistani celebrity models such as Cybil and Irum Bokhari.

The crowd consisted of community-involved Pakistanis in New York including the General Consul Fakir Syed Asif Hussain, the permanent representative of Pakistan for the United Nations Hussain Haroon, and Dr. Babar Rao with family.– Text and Photo by Sadef A. Kully/ Dawn.com/ New York
