KARACHI, April 12: Gas prices will go up by 10 per cent due to hike in its prices in the international market, said Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Muneer Ahmed, here on Tuesday. “Gas prices will witness at least 10 per cent increase this year as these have already gone up in the international market. Our prices will be linked to the (prices in the) global market,” the official told members of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries during a meeting in the Federation House.

However, he said, OGRA was focusing on cutting expenses of gas companies to adjust for consumers increase in gas prices.

When his attention was drawn to the increasing gap between supply and demand of gas, the OGRA chief said the authority had suggested to the government to make alternative arrangements for gas supply, which also include import of gas.—APP
