KASUR, Nov 23: Pattoki police on Tuesday registered a case against more than 120 students and arrested some of them for blocking the national highway and allegedly pelting stones on a police van , injuring six officials, including a DSP and an SHO.

Reports said students of Pattoki Degree College beat up driver and conductor of a bus (LRC-4750) on Monday, after which the city police had registered a case against two students Asif Ali and Faisal and arrested them. Later, a large number of students took out a procession against the police demanding release of their fellows and withdrawal of 'fake' case.

Meanwhile, DSP Ashiq Marth, city and Saddar SHOs along with other officials rushed to the spot. On seeing the police van, the protesters pelted stones on the vehicle, injuring Ashiq Marth, Saddar SHO Ibrahim Warriach, and four others.

Some of the students were also injured. All the injured were taken to the THQ hospital. Later, Kasur (investigation) DSP Fida Hussain Shah along with a heavy police force rushed to the spot and after a dialogue, the students ended the road blockade.

STRIKE: More than 100 shopkeepers of Mustafabad on Tuesday observed a complete strike and blocked the Lahore-Kasur Road for an hour as a protest against 'extortion tax' by some vagabonds.

Reports said Munshi Mulla along with his accomplices allegedly collected 'tax' from traders and threatened some shopkeepers with dire consequences on their refusal. The protesters alleged that the police had not taken any action despite complaints. Meanwhile, the Saddar DSP along with police force rushed to the spot and on his assurance, the traders dispersed.

ENMITY: Three people shot dead a man over an old enmity here at Rawal Jhangar, Sadar Raiwind on Tuesday. Police said there was an enmity between Iqbal alias Bali and Attaullah. Iqbal along with his two accomplices entered the house of Atta and opened fire killing him on the spot.
