PESHAWAR, May 13: The nazims of various tehsils and towns across the province have complained that due to lack of funds and non-cooperation by the bureaucracy, developmental schemes were not being properly carried out.

They aired their concerns at a meeting of the nazims at the Conference Hall of Town-I, here on Tuesday with Peshawar Town-I nazim Haji Shaukat Ali in the chair.

The nazims said that they would contact the provincial government, particularly the NWFP Minister for Local Government Bashir Ahmed Bilour in a bid to clear all the misconceptions between the provincial government and the local bodies’ representatives.

A 12-member committee was formed on the occasion which would meet the minister and assure him of full cooperation on part of the towns and tehsils nazims.

The committee members include Peshawar Town-I nazim Haji Shaukat Ali, Twon-II nazim Mohammad Sharif Khan, Town-III nazim Mujahid Khan, Town-IV nazim Arbab Aamir Ayub, Sawabi tehsil nazim Shah Room Khan, Chitral tehsil nazim Sartaj Khan, Nowshera tehsil nazim Dr Imran, Shabqadar tehsil nazim Ashfaq Khan, Ghazi tehsil nazim Aslam Yayat Khan, Kohat tehsil nazim Dilbar Khan, Mardan tehsil nazim Ihsanullah Bacha and Bannu Town-II nazim Rehmatullah Khan.

The nazims also formed a finance committee which would be responsible for raising a fund to be used on expenditure of the All Tehsil and Town Nazims’ Association NWFP.
