KHUZDAR: Two local cricketers belonging to the Christian community were shot dead on Wednesday by unknown armed men as they were playing cricket in a ground of Mastung town.

Police officials said that armed men on motorcycles opened fire on them in the Shamshabad crossing area of Mastung city.

An official of the Mastung administration, requesting anonymity, said the incident occurred at a cricket ground where a cricket match was underway.

“Two cricketers belonging to the Christian community sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot,” the official said.

Soon after the incident, police reached the area and shifted bodies of the victims to the district hospital. Family members and people of the Christian community blocked the highway in protest and placed bodies of the victims there.
