SWABI: Three TikTokers were arrested and the guns they had displayed in their respective videos were recovered from them in separate actions by the district police here on Saturday.

The videos with display of Kalashnikov and pistols had gone viral on social media after which the police launched a hunt for them.

The district police officer, Waqas Rafique, said that such videos created disorder in the society and encouraged youngsters to use weapons.

Legal action has been initiated against the accused while citizens have been instructed to refrain from displaying weapons and uploading such videos on social media, otherwise strict action will be taken as per the law, he warned.

The DPO said that a crackdown was underway across the district against youth who displayed weapons and made videos for social media platforms.

SHO Zaida police station Altaf Khan, ASI Aamir Khan, along with a police party, led by ASP Muhammad Numan carried out an operation and arrested accused Fawad Hussain and Rubel Khan alias Junaid, residents of Zaida city, who displayed weapons on social media.

Kalashnikovs and pistols displayed in the videos have also been recovered from the possession of the accused, said Altaf.

He said the district police in its campaign made it clear that those who promote gun culture will never be tolerated and the young generation should focus on education.

SHO Chota Lahor police station Haroon Khan said that a police party led by DSP Chota Lahor tehsil Zardad Khan carried out a raid and arrested accused Ziaullah, resident of Chota Lahor, who had made and uploaded a video of displaying weapons on social media with obscene remarks.

He said that the videos were spreading fear and panic in the society and promote negative trends among the young generation.

Immediate action was taken on the identification of the social media monitoring cell and accused Ziaullah was arrested and weapons were also recovered from his possession.
