QUETTA: Around 180 suspects were arrested and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was seized during the security operations by Frontier Corps and police in the wake of the attacks in multiple cities of Balochistan, officials said.

During these operations, which started last Saturday, they said the security forces killed as many as 216 terrorists, while the bodies of five laborers were found during combing operation in Nushki.

The bodies of labourers, who hailed from Sindh, were shifted to Quetta. They would be handed over to their families, the officials said.

Besides, almost all highways, except Quetta-Taftan and Nushki Taftan highways, were opened for traffic, which remained closed for a few days, the officials said.

Traffic between Quetta and Nushki has been restored after the damaged road was repaired. People have been informed that they could travel between Quetta and Nushki from 6am to 5pm, but cautioned against night travel.

However, the authorities said that the highway from Nushki to Taftan was still closed. They said the terrorists during the attack in Nushki had planted landmines at different places on the highway.

Security forces were combing the highway from landmines, while the NHA and other departments concerned were repairing the road after which traffic would be allowed to resume.
