PESHAWAR: Speakers at a book launching ceremony here on Monday called for spreading the message of Khan Abdul Wali Khan, saying he stood for lasting peace, justice for all and non-violence philosophy of Bacha Khan.

They said that the newly-published book brought to light the less visible aspect of Wali Khan’s strength and deep understanding of fighting lawsuits with his political wisdom and unbeatable strength in different court proceedings.

Da Sahu Leeknukio Adabi Maraka in coloration with Dr Naveedullah Khan arranged the launching ceremony of the newly-published book titled ‘Khan Abdul Wali Khan Ki Adalalti Jang’. Literati, intellectual and political activists attended the event, held at the hujra of Hidayatullah Khan in Deenbahar Colony.

Nawab Ali Yousafzai, author of the book, in his remarks said that his book spanned over 227 printed pages encompassed

Speakers laud late leader for his political wisdom

political vision and statesmanship of Wali Khan in four chapters. He said that it was his second book, the first being ‘Haqaiq Abhi Haqai Hai’, which would change the perspective of many readers.

Other speakers said that Wali Khan faced numerous high profile legal battles in Pakistani courts including Hyderabad conspiracy case, a treason trial under Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s government accusing him and other National Awami Party (NAP) leaders of secessionist activities.

They said that despite prolonged detentions and lengthy trials, Wali Khan’s approach reflected resilience, strategic patience and unyielding commitment to principles. His core wisdom for confronting such lawsuits could be distilled from political philosophy and conduct as he was not only an author and a visionary statesman but also an expert on legal suits, they added.

They said that Wali Khan always emphasised that oppressive regimes used courts and prolonged trials to break spirits, advising enduring injustice with steadfastness viewing time in detention or court as part of the larger struggle for justice and civil rights.

He believed that truth eventually prevailed if one persisted without compromising integrity, they said.

Zaland Momand while commenting the title stated that the book carried all the details that explained what Wali Khan had done for his people and the country at large. He added that the book was a must read for those, who were still under the impression that Khudai Khidmatgar Tehrik and NAP were ‘parties of traitors’.

Rokhan Yousafzai said that the author unveiled the hidden aspect of late Wali Khan.

He said that the book brought to light stark realities, which were earlier least visible.

He added that the new title also made it clear as to what was the mission of Wali Khan for which he had put his life at stake.

Prof Zubair Hasrat on the occasion said such observations of political leaders should be discussed at open forums so that youth could know facts.

Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, the former IGP, Abid Ghazi and Syed Javed Gilani also shed light on the book. Later, Khidmatgaar Tanzeem presented award to the author in recognition of his contribution.
