KARACHI: Two passers-by were killed in a crossfire between two parties which clashed at Khyber Chowk in the Ittehad Town area on Saturday evening.

South-DIG Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that armed men from Mehsud and Afridi tribes resorted to firing on each other after a quarrel between their children.

The officer said two passers-by, identified as Hazrat Khan, 30, and Ibrahim Abdul Hakeem, 18, were wounded in the crossfire. They were shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where they died during treatment.

The clash triggered fear and panic among the residents. Contingents of police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects, the officer added.
