TOBA TEK SINGH: Three robbers were killed on Thursday in an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) on Abbaspur Road, Faisalabad.

Police claimed that three under arrest outlaws were being transported to recover looted valuables when 10 of their accomplices attacked the police van. Police claimed the attackers were able to free the trio and the police team exchanged fire with the attackers.

Police said that after reinforcements reached the spot, the attackers fled the scene and the team found the trio injured.

Police said they were shifted to the Allied Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Police claimed the men were killed by the bullets fired by their accomplices.

They were identified as Fareed of Chak 21-GB, Qasim of Ghulam Muhammadabad and Akhtar of Chak 217-RB.

The men were involved in dozens of dacoities, police said.

MURDER: A young man was allegedly murdered in Chak 46-JB, Faisalabad over a minor quarrel by his uncle on Thursday.

Nishatabad police said deceased Asim Nikko and accused Adeel Ahmad exchanged harsh words over some domestic issue. Police claimed that Adeel opened fire and Asim was seriously wounded as a result.

He was shifted to the Allied Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

UAF: Independence and Marka-i-Haq Day was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) where a flag hoisting ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali.

National songs and tableau were performed by the students of UAF Laboratory School and Senior Tutor Office.

Dr Zulfiqar paid tribute to the sacrifices and services of the Pakistani armed forces.

He said, “The victory in the May war doubled the joy of Independence Day.”

Meanwhile, the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) also celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm, national spirit, and patriotic fervour.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam hoisted the national flag.
