KARACHI: The Karachi chapter of the East West Centre Alumni Association (EWCAA) has new leadership following its elections held on Saturday at the Karachi Press Club.

Maleeha Hamid Siddiqui and Syed Sibte Hassan Rizvi were elected as the president and general secretary. Dr Lubna Ansari Baig and Najia Mir were elected unopposed as vice-president and treasurer, respectively.

The EWCAA members also elected Kamal Siddiqi (22 votes), Ghazala Fasih (21 votes), Shabina Faraz (21 votes) and Syeda Amna Nasir (17 votes) as members of the governing body.

In her acceptance speech, Ms Siddiqui outlined her plans for the chapter that include increasing alumni membership, explore Asia Pacific ideas in Pakistan, working to improve Pakistan-India relations and advocating for climate change.
