SUKKUR: A 10-year-old girl died and five of her family members fainted after they ate poisonous food in Khan Mohammad Gurjani village near Tangwani town, Kandhkot-Kashmore district, on Saturday.
Relatives said that Farooq Gujrani’s family ate some samosas with bread and fell unconscious immediately afterwards. Farooq’s 10-year-old daughter, Azima, died instantly. The food was not freshly cooked, it was stale and might have become poisonous, they said.
Five family members of the victim, including Samira, Babra and Latifan Gujrani who had fallen unconscious were rushed to a private hospital in the city where doctors reported improvement in their condition, they said.
Two villagers freed from illegal detention
A raid commissioner recovered two villagers, whom police had detained illegally at Shabbirabad police station in Tangwani town, Kandhkot-Kashmore district, on Saturday.
The court official Ashfaq Ahmed Noonari found the two villagers, Javed Nandwani and Jameel Nandwani, detained at the police station. SHO Aijaz Ahmed Khoso managed to slip from the police station when the raid commissioner reached there, said sources.
