KARACHI: Schemes for giving assistance to the development of cottage industries have been approved by the Government of Pak­istan and are now being put into operation, says a Press note issued ... on Friday [July 7]. The scheme … will cost … approximately Rs 8,38,880. In addition, Rs 3,50,000 will be advanced from ways and means ... for the purchase of articles and material for sale.

The question of giving all possible assistance to the growth and development of cottage and small-scale industries has been receiving the serious attention of the Ministry of Industries. The Minister for Industries, making a statement of policy at Sialkot in November last, stated that the Government would do everything possible to promote the development of cottage and small-scale industries.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Cairo,] Egypt is to complain to the Security Council of an “Israeli” violation of her frontier, according to the Wafdist newspaper, Al-Misri. The Egyptian War Minister, Mustafa Nosrat Bey, stated yesterday [July 6] that three Arab civilians were killed and crops destroyed near the coastal frontier town of Rafah on June 30.
