LAHORE: Lahore Zoo Safari has for the first time successfully hatched ostrich eggs through incubators, say wildlife and parks officials.

They say that the installation of incubators at the Lahore Zoo Safari played a vital role in the success of the experiment of hatching ostrich eggs at the facility. They say that as a result of incubation, 10 ostrich eggs were successfully hatched at the zoo safari.

For successful hatching of ostrich eggs, very low moisture is required, they add.

They say that the young ostrich chicks are healthy and rubber mats and other necessary material have been procured for them.

The officials say that the chicks are being kept in isolation and no visitor is allowed in their enclave so far.

They say that the initiative of artificial hatching of ostrich eggs at the zoo safari was taken on the direction of Wildlife and Forest Secretary Mudassir Riaz Malik.
