KARACHI: The city administration on Tuesday imposed a one-month complete ban on swimming, bathing and public gathering along the Hub Canal.

Officials said the ban was clamped on the formal request by CEO of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), Ahmed Ali Siddiqui.

The decision comes amid rising incidents of drowning, growing threats to public safety, and concerns over the security of the city’s critical water supply infrastructure.

Commissioner Hasan Naqvi invoked Section 144 of the criminal procedure code to enforce the ban from June 16 to July 17, 2025.
