DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Rivals shot dead two brothers in Tank district on Tuesday, the police said.
The incident occurred near Takwara Bridge on the Tank-Pezu Road in the jurisdiction of Gul Imam police station as the deceased were returning to their Amakhel village after attending a court hearing.
Police officials said the assailants had concealed themselves in roadside bushes and ambushed the two brothers.
A complainant, Asadullah, brother of the deceased, Rahatullah and Ziyad, identified the attackers as Ismail and Ikramullah.
He said indiscriminate fire resulted in the instant death of his brothers, while he miraculously escaped unharmed.
He confirmed that the attack was a consequence of a longstanding feud. The police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
OPEN KUTCHERY: The Federal Board of Revenue officials held an open kutchery here to resolve tax-related issues of the local traders and lawyers.
FBR officials, including assistant commissioner Sher Alam, inspector Malik Sabtain and Ejaz Ahmed listened to the participants’ tax-related matters.
During the session, FBR officials urged the business community to inform their distributors and retailers about the importance of timely submission of taxes deducted under section 236H and section 153(a)(1) of the Income Tax Ordinance.
This, they emphasised was crucial to meet legal obligations and ensure transparency in business operations.
Traders and lawyers expressed particular concern about the sales tax notices being issued by the FBR Kohat office. They requested that an official from the Kohat office visit DI Khan on a monthly basis to address the concerns of local traders and lawyers directly.
They called for immediate action by the Kohat division commissioner to resolve issues faced by taxpayers.
FBR officials assured the participants that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis.
ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: Dera deputy commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to assess the progress of the ongoing anti-polio campaign.
The deputy commissioner received a briefing on campaign activities, and said polio eradication was a national duty and there was no room for negligence.
He also stressed the importance of addressing vaccine refusal cases, and called on the parents to ensure their children received polio drops during each campaign.
“Polio is a debilitating virus that can be prevented with just two drops. We must protect our children and contribute to a polio-free Pakistan,” he emphasised.
