MARDAN: Three persons including a woman and a child were shot dead in the name of honour in Thaja Banda area of Rustam tehsil here on Monday.

The victims were identified as Sher Aman, 56, his 29-year old daughter-in-law, and his one-year old grandson Rokhan.

His widow Naseem registered FIR in Rustam police station and said that Abuzar and Bakhtiyar armed with weapons entered their house in small hours and opened indiscriminate firing on them, killing her husband Sher Aman, her daughter-in-law and grandson Rokhan on the spot.

She told police that they were sleeping at the time of incident and all the family members woke up by firing and saw that the accused were fleeing the spot after killing the victims. The accused managed to escape the incident.

She said that it was an honour killing case as her daughter-in-law had contracted court marriage with her son Shahi Mulk two years ago without the consent of her parents.

After registering FIR, Rustam police said that they were raiding different spots to arrest the alleged killers.

GAS LEAK: A fire broke out in a bakery here due to a gas leakage, leaving four people severely injured on Monday, reports APP.

Rescue 1122 officials said that the incident occurred in Nehar Chowk area, where a gas leak inside the bakery led to a sudden fire. As a result, four people sustained serious burn injuries.

Rescue 1122 firefighters and medical teams promptly arrived at the scene. They managed to control the fire in time and provided initial medical aid to the injured before transferring them to district headquarters hospital. Later, the victims were shifted to Burns Centre in Peshawar for further treatment.
