MOSCOW: Pakistan and the Soviet Union expressed the hope that all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan will be settled as provided in the Simla Agreement in the interest of establishing durable peace in the subcontinent. A joint communique issued today [Oct 26] at the end of the two-day visit of Prime Minister Bhutto to the Soviet Union said the two sides also hoped that the differences between Pakistan and Afghanistan will be settled by peaceful means through negotiations… . While re-affirming the desire to develop mutually-beneficial co-operation in trade, economy and in the cultural and scientific fields, the two sides decided to conclude a new trade agreement. … The communique touched on burning international problems of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Middle East and Cyprus. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Rabat,] the seventh Summit of Arab Heads of State was opened here … by King Hassan II of Morocco.
