According to hospital sources, 706 patients arrived in dengue counters of three government run hospital, among them 108 tested positive for dengue.

A senior doctor of Holy Family Hospital told Dawn that 23,025 patients arrived in the outdoor patients department of three government run hospitals from January 1 to October 19 and 3,203 were confirmed dengue patients.

He said that five people died in three government run hospitals while remaining went back home after getting treatment. He said that the number of dengue hemorrhagic fever patients increased during the last one month.

“The basic reason for the increase is self-medication and they report to the hospital after the case worsens.

“The people should not wait for the symptoms of dengue and visit government run hospitals immediately so their dengue test could be conducted and treatment could be started,” he said.
