KARACHI: Chief Justice Sindh High Court Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui on Thursday said that the work on a new complex comprising 12 courtrooms and chambers within the premises of the SHC will be completed in a year.

While laying the foundation of repurposing the old Annexe Building into a state of the art digitally integrated complex housing courts and chambers, he outlined his vision for judicial structure in Sindh.

The chief justice stated that he was single mindedly committed to the modernisation and expansion of the judiciary in human resource and infrastructure in an effort to precipitate swift and comprehensive adjudication.

He also said that the existing edifice merited immediate attention and this project was an endeavour in pursuit of his vision.

The sanctioned strength of the SHC is 40 judges while only 27 courtrooms and chambers are available at SHC Karachi and clearly, the existing infrastructure neither satisfies the requirement nor contained any provision for the future, he concluded.
