LAHORE: The Punjab University (PU) on Monday suspended three employees for allegedly leaking two LLB examination papers to students in exchange for money.

The annual LLB (five-year) examinations for parts I, II, III, IV, and V commenced on Aug 23.

The suspended employees include Key Punch Operator Athar, Naib Qasid Mohsin, and Junior Clerk Usman. The PU administration took action following reports of the paper leak, which prompted an investigation by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Lahore.

The IB’s inquiry revealed that the first paper was sold for Rs35,000 and Rs6,000 by two employees, while the second paper was sold for Rs100,000 by the third employee.

The officials were caught red-handed during the investigation and subsequently confessed to their involvement in the crime.

A PU spokesperson said the administration had been monitoring the employees for bypassing the university’s paper secrecy protocols. With substantial evidence, the administration suspended the employees and initiated legal proceedings against them.

He said the university had cancelled the papers of the four students who purchased the leaked papers and had filed Unfair Means Cases (UMC) against them.
