PPSC exam centres

Published September 13, 2024

THE examination centres of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in Lahore fail to provide essential facilities to the candidates. Those who come from far-flung areas to take the test are parti- cularly troubled by the inadequate services. One wonders why these examination centres are not established in those regions.

Every year, a large number of candidates from Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur and other areas come to Lahore to sit the test. However, the abysmal condition of these centres quash their hopes and rub salt into their wounds. There are no proper waiting areas for parents and students, and even drinking water is not always available. This compels both the students and their parents to endure unbearable temperatures and thirst for hours. Needless to say, these rather unfavourable conditions hinder their performance and affect their results.

Moreover, no proper arrangement is made to enter the examination centres. This causes great chaos, and sometimes leads to hostilities among the students. Sadly, the administration’s response to these challenges has been extremely disappointing. If swift action is taken, the system can be improved to satisfy the candidates and meet the expectations of today’s job-seekers.

As such, improved infrastructure as well as a responsive administration could substantially improve the performance of the candidates, increasing their chances of getting what they deserve.

Undoubtedly, the future of our youn-gsters lies in the hands of the government. The relevant authorities must take all necessary measures to facilitate the candidates so that they may perform well during their competitive examinations.
