ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) in collaboration with the FIA has exposed an illicit operation involving the unauthorised issuance of national identity cards to foreigners.

A comprehensive internal review pinpointed five Nadra employees who participated in the scheme.

Following reports of unauthorised issuance of computerised national identity cards to foreign nationals, Nadra’s administration analysed its systems and operational protocols.

Through a forensic audit of Nadra’s databases, it became evident that five employees of different ranks were complicit in facilitating the issuance of identity cards to foreigners.

Following the internal inquiry, Nadra has transferred the case to the FIA, accompanied by all relevant records, to ensure swift and effective legal proceedings, after which, action will be taken against the accused employees.—
