RAWALPINDI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) will hold a jalsa (public gathering) in Liaquat Bagh on Sunday (today) which would be addressed by the party’s emir, Sirajul Haq.

The district administration has permitted the party to hold the public meeting on the condition that it would end the gathering before sunset and coordinate with local and traffic police for security arrangements.

JI Emir Rawalpindi Syed Arif Shirazi, General Secretary Attique Abbasi and others visited Liaquat Bagh and reviewed the arrangements.

JI Spokesman Malik Azam told Dawn that all candidates would bring rallies from their respective constituencies and union councils. He said all arrangements had been made despite the bad weather, adding that the public gathering would start after Zuhr prayers and would likely end before Maghreb.

Moreover, security arrangements have also been made by the party, while external security would be the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies.
