THIS is with reference to the letter ‘Let us appreciate honest feedback’ (Dec 28). I am also a victim of one of the leading private schools in Hyderabad. The ‘elite’ school has been providing so-called quality education for more than four decades in a posh area of the city.

Being an educationist myself and a responsible parent, I shared some sugges- tions during the parents-teacher meeting (PTM), as I found so many grammatical errors and wrong questions and answers in the notebooks of my son. It exposed the incompetence of the teachers, but the school did not seem to be willing to improve the professional competence of its teachers.

As soon as I pointed out the errors, my son started getting targeted in many ways in the school and even outside the class. He was humiliated by the teacher in front of his friends and sometimes he would be seen with tears in his eyes while complaining about the behaviour of the school head and teachers during the class.

I accompanied my son to the owner of the school to file a complaint so that he could make a change in the mechanism and pedagogy in the larger interest of the students. But, unfortunately, nothing has changed so far. The heads and owners of such private institutions should welcome suggestions by parents and the problems they bring to their notice instead of making it a matter of ego. Such suggestions should be positively considered without targeting, insulting and victimising students in retaliation, which may affect their personality psychologically.
