PESHAWAR: Two abducted persons were recovered and a kidnaper was arrested in a joint operation carried out by the Peshawar and Khyber police in Kukikhel area of the tribal district on Monday.

A statement issued by the city police here said on Sept 6, Amanullah, a local resident, had registered a case with the Sarband police station, stating that Said Gull and Hakim alias Sohail were picked up by some unknown persons from Achini area on outskirts of the provincial capital.

He told the police that the kidnapers were sharing images of the abducted persons with the family and were demanding Rs100 million ransom for their release.

The Sarband police had registered a case and launched a probe.

A team led by DSP Sher Afzal started investigation into the complaint, and conducted a raid on a tip-off and recovered the two abducted persons.

The police also arrested the leader of the kidnappers’ gang, Jamshed, the statement said.
