KARACHI: The driver of a Revo pickup truck, who hit a man, his two minor daughters and a niece in Gulshan-i-Iqbal near Sunday Bazaar, is still at large, police said on Thursday.

As the video of the incident went viral on social media, the caretaker home minister took notice and directed the police to submit a ‘facts-based’ report and ensure arrest of the suspects.

Gulshan-i-Iqbal SHO Arshad Afridi on Thursday said that the incident had occurred on Sunday. He said an FIR had been registered and the police had also obtained some clues about the vehicle involved in the incident and efforts were underway to arrest the suspects.

The SHO denied media reports about the death of any person. However, he said four family members were injured who were admitted at a private hospital for treatment.

Wounded Sajjad Hussain lodged an FIR stating that he along with his family members had gone to Sunday Bazaar in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block-7 for shopping on Aug 27.

As they came back and moved towards their parked vehicle, an unidentified double cabin vehicle (Revo) coming from an unknown direction hit them and escaped.

The complainant said he suffered injuries and became unconscious. He said he gained consciousness at a hospital where he realised that he had suffered internal wounds in the head with broken legs.

His one daughter, Horain, 4, received injuries on her head, leg and foot. The other daughter, Hania, 7, suffered wounds below her eyes and ribs while his niece, Hamna Shahzad, 5, received injuries in the neck, leg, hands and shoulder.

The complainant said they were all getting treatment at an emergency ward of Liaquat National Hospital.

Meanwhile, caretaker home minister retired Brig Haris Nawaz asked the police to ensure the arrest of the suspects.
