Over 20,000 students to participate in GB summer fiesta starting today

GILGIT: The Summer Fiesta GB 2023 to empower youth will start in Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday in which 20,000 students from government schools will participate.

The GB government has collaborated with 18 organisations from across the country to arrange the event.

According to a notification, the government was thrilled to unveil the launch of the highly anticipated event. This exciting two-week event will take place simultaneously across all the 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

It said approximately 20,000 students from government schools will participate, making the event a remarkable opportunity for the youth of the region.

“Summer Fiesta GB 2023 aims to provide a unique platform for students to explore diverse career opportunities and gain valuable insights from esteemed institutions and organisations. It is our belief that every student possesses immense potential, and this event seeks to ignite their curiosity, encourage innovation and inspire them to pursue their passions with confidence,” the government said.

“Among our partners are Lums, Karandaaz, PNCA, Idara Taleem-o-Agahi, Steam Pakistan, NHA, Learn Obots, Knowledge Platform, AKU, AKRSP, Rupani Foundation, GBRSP, Health Department, UNDP, WWF, RESCUE 1122 and the Social Welfare Department.”

The participating organisations will bring domain experts from their respective areas of specialisation to engage with the students of Gilgit-Baltistan.

This collaboration will provide students with an invaluable opportunity to learn from experts and industry professionals, broadening their horizons and empowering them to make informed decisions about their future careers.

“We are confident that this event will leave a lasting impact on the participating students, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and inspiration to excel in their chosen paths.” The Lums team reached Gilgit on Saturday to attend the event.

An official from the GB education department told Dawn that the event will provide a great opportunity for over 25,000 students to benefit from various activities.

Information Technology, financial literacy, climate change, environment knowledge, medical and health camps will be established on the occasion, the official said.
