SWABI/HARIPUR: Five persons, including three girls, were killed in separate road accidents on Tuesday, the police and rescue officials said.

A truck hit a motorcycle in Swabi, killing two girls and injuring another.

Amin Rehman of Saleem Khan village told mediapersons that he along with two daughters and a granddaughter was on way home when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit his motorcycle near Palodand area.

As a result, he said his one daughter and the granddaughter died on the spot, while he along with his other daughter sustained injuries.

The truck driver escaped the area.

An FIR was registered against the truck driver in Swabi city police station. The bodies and injured were taken to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor.

Meanwhile, a speeding dumper truck hit a schoolgirl while embarking from a van in Haripur, killing her on the spot.

Police quoted witnesses as saying that some students of government secondary school for girls, Khanpur, were getting off the school van at Khoi Maira stop, when the incident occurred.

The deceased was identified as Areeza Ehsan, 16, a second year student. Rescue workers shifted the body to the Haripur Trauma Centre. The truck driver escaped the scene.

Also, two friends were killed and one was injured when the motorcycle they were riding crashed against a roadside tree in Tofkiyan village due to over-speeding.

All the three were shifted to hospital where the doctors pronounced two of them dead.

The deceased were identified as Mohiz Naseer Raja and Bilal Sakhi Mohammad.
