GUJRAT: Four people, including two drivers, were killed when a mini-truck and a dumper struck against an already overturned truck along the GT Road near Lalamusa early on Saturday morning.
Reports said a mini-truck loaded with cattle was going to the Kunjah market from Jatalan area of Mirpur. Near Wehnd village of Lalamusa, it struck against another mini-truck which had already overturned along the road. Later, a dumper also rammed into both these trucks.
The collision resulted in the death of four people -- drivers Ansar Mahmood of Mirpur and Habibur Rehman of Baldia Town, Karachi, Ramzan of Multan and Zahid of Mirpur.
Rescue 1122 officials, motorway police and Gujrat police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital and removed the trucks from the scene.
Police have registered a case against the driver of a mini-truck responsible for the accident on the report of Nauman Ali of Mirpur and started investigation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has expressed his deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of lives in the accident and expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolence with the heirs of the deceased persons.
He also directed the administration to take a legal action against the driver responsible for this accident.
