It is sad to see politicians calling names and using foul language against each other. These abusive speeches have a destructive impact on youth and children. Politicians must understand that no one wants their children to get exposure to flthy language delivered in a filthier tone. The politicians have made it difficult for the people to live with their differences. Now everyone, it seems, is out to settle some score. The authorities should ban all speeches that are indicative of unethical behaviour.

RECKLESS DRIVING: It is becoming common to see motorists moving on the wrong side of the track across DHA, Karachi. The leniency shown by traffic police has encouraged the drivers to violate one-way rules. Even vehicles of DHA vigilance teams can be seen driving in the wrong direction. Such reckless driving can lead to massive road mishaps. The authorities concerned should address the matter immediately.

FEE HIKE: In the face of growing economic difficulties, the field of education has also borne the brunt of the ongoing crisis. The Pakistan Medical Council (PMC) has increased the fee for entry test up to Rs6,000. This is a hefty amount, especially for students belonging to middle-class families. Those who fail the test, naturally, get no refund. The relevant authorities should regulate the fee structure of PMC without delay.

HONOURING THE HEROES: Even when it happened back in the day, it was heart-wrenching to watch national hero Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan facing allegations and then taking the blame for transferring nuclear technology to another country by offering a personal sacrifice. He tirelessly worked to boost the country’s defence and was a true national hero. He did not receive as much honour and dignity as his counterpart Dr Abul Kalam received in India. When will we learn to respect our heroes?
