KARACHI: City administration on Saturday continued the crackdown on profiteers, imposing Rs681,000 fine on 132 shopkeepers and vendors for selling essential food item on higher prices.

One shopkeeper was arrested in the Sadder area for profiteering.

As many as 16 profiteers were fined Rs158,000 in district Central, while 13 violators of the officially fixed prices were fined Rs29,000 in district Malir.

The administration of district Keamari imposed a fine of Rs12,000 on 14 profiteers while in district South, Rs325,000 fine was imposed on 40 profiteers.
