QUETTA: Balochistan Election Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Murad said on Thursday that under the Government Act, 2010, delimitation of union councils and wards in Balochistan had been completed and lists were being displayed for the public for filing objections.

Speaking at a press conference, he said all the 34 districts of the province would be demarcated. The population per ward will be between 1,000 and 1,500 whereas the population of the municipal committee will be 15,000 to 100,000, he added.

He said a metropolitan corporation has been formed in an urban area of the province and there are eight municipal corporations in urban areas.

Mr Murad said 54 municipal committees formed across the province have 718 wards. In the province’s rural areas, 978 union councils have 5,933 wards.

He said preliminary delimitation lists of local councils and wards in Balochistan was finalised on Feb 1 whereas objections on delimitation would be entertained till March 9
