It’s always fun to make handmade toys or games, and what is more special about them is that you can add a personalised touch to it by using the colours and other details that you like. Such creative activities are especially useful to pass the time when there is little or nothing else to do.

Therefore today, we will play with a kitty. And we will do it by making a pop-up kitty cup.

Things you need:

  1. A paper cup

  2. Three straws

  3. Scissors

  4. Scotch tape

  5. White paper

  6. A pencil

  7. Markers black and red

Directions:

  1. To give the cup kitty’s body-like feel, I pasted coloured paper on it (but this is optional), picture 2

  2. Draw a kitty face and two paws (you can make any animal), picture 3.

  3. Fill the red colour on the borders, then highlight it with black marker, picture 4.

  4. Cut out the kitty face and its paws, picture 5.

  5. Make three holes in the cup; two on the top, parallel to each other, while third in the bottom, see pictures 6 and 7.

  6. Cut two straws two inches shorter than the third one, picture 8.

  7. Stick all three straws together with a tape, the two shorter (supposedly the hands of the kitty) should be on each side of the longer straw, picture 9.

  8. Insert the straws in the cup from the top, the longer one will go through the hole in the bottom while the two shorter ones will go through the holes in each side of the cup, see picture 10.

  9. Paste the kitty face on the three joint straws now in the middle of the cup, picture 11.

  10. Paste paws on the straws on each side of the cup, picture 12.

  11. Your pop-up kitty cup is ready, just pull the long straw at bottom of the cup and see how the kitty reacts with its paws. Have fun!
