LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Senator Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry inaugurated a Health Card Counter at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Tuesday.

UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Javed Akram, Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar and LGH Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Razzaq also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Mr Chaudhry said every family across Punjab would get the health card by December this year that would enable people to get immediate and quality medical care at their doorstep.

The PGMI principal said the government was constructing new hospitals that would reduce the burden on the major teaching hospitals and provide quality healthcare to the citizens.

He lauded the decision of the Punjab government for increasing the health budget to Rs370bn.

He said the Health Card Counter had been set up in the LGH radiology department and PGMI and the hospital would take practical steps to create awareness among the people about the initiative.

Dr Umair Rashid Chaudhry said the highest number of people being handicap in the world is due to brain hemorrhage. He said first “Acute Stroke Centre” equipped with state-of-the-art facilities had started functioning at the LGH, where the lives of the patients suffering brain hemorrhage and stroke could be saved if they reported within 24 hours of such episode.
