SWABI: The district administration on Monday closed down a boys high school in Chota Lahor after four positive cases of novel coronavirus were reported from the institution, officials said.

The school was the first to be closed down in the Swabi district due to coronavirus after the opening of educational institutions in September.

When contacted, additional assistant Commissioner, Chota Lahor, Mohammad Farooq said the high school No 2 in Yar Hussain had been closed till further orders.

He, however, said he was not aware whether the positive cases were among the students or the teachers. However, sources in the district administration said both the students and teachers were affected.

Meanwhile, the officials asked all the public and private schools, colleges and three universities in the district to strictly follow the SOPs to prevent spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, three men hailing from Balochistan were injured when the car they were travelling in overturned on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway on Monday, Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said the car was going to Peshawar, adding the accident occurred due to over-speeding. The injured were shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor.

Meanwhile, district police officer Imran Shahid claimed on Monday that an arrested man had admitted to killing his wife, 25, who was found slaughtered on the edge of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway on Oct 10.

The Chota Lahor police, after recovering the body, had shared her picture on social media, which helped trace her relatives, the DPO said, adding the mother of the victim had alleged that her son-in-law was involved in her murder.

The police constituted a team led by DSP Chota Lahor Taj Mohammad, which arrested the accused from his house in Charsadda. The accused, during the preliminary investigation, admitted to killing his wife over a domestic issue.
