ISLAMABAD: A police official was murdered on Thursday allegedly by another police official over a dispute involving an official residence.

Police said the incident took place at a residential block in G-6/1 allotted to the police.

A constable stationed at the Criminal Intelligence Agency was allegedly shot and killed by another constable deployed with the Anti-Riot Unit.

Police officers told Dawn on the condition of anonymity that neighbours, heard a gunshot from a flat. When they arrived at the flat, they saw a police official bleeding on the floor.

The injured man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The flat in question was shared by three police officials, one of whom was out of them and another – deployed with the Anti-Riot Unit – who has disappeared.

The officers said that they still do not know what happened in the flat, but it is believed that the constable who disappeared was behind the murder.
