CHAGAI: Two men, including a retired professor, were gunned down by assailants in the Naag area of Washuk district on Friday.

According to official sources, Prof Abdul Khaliq and his cousin Abdul Rashid were shot down when they were visiting their fields in the Konri area.

Besima Assistant Commissioner Zakir Baloch told Dawn taht Levies forces had handed over the bodies to families after completing legal requirements and investigation was under way to ascertain the identity and whereabouts of the assailants.

Mr Baloch said the reason behind the murder was not immediately known; however, Levies officials were in contact with the bereaved family to find out the cause of the incident.
