GWADAR: Four suspected militants were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces during an operation in the Prom area of Panjgur district on Sunday.

According to official sources, members of security forces, acting on an intelligence report about presence of wanted militants in Prom Kallag Kour Yar Muhammad Bazaar, launched a search operation in the area.

During combing of the area, the militants hiding in a house opened fire on the security personnel, triggering a gunfight which continued for about two hours.

The exchange of fire led to killing of the four militants who were later identified as Noor Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Abdul Malik and Momin. They all belonged to Buleda area of Kech district.

“The four militants killed in the security forces’ operation belonged to banned militant outfits,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, according to another report, in an armed attack inside Iran, two residents of Keck district were killed the other day. The report said that the firing incident took place in Peshin Gharibabad area of Iran where the armed men riding a vehicle opened fire, killing Murad and Fazal on the spot.

“Both were residents of Mand area,” the sources said.
