KARACHI: An empty shell of a projectile device was found at the Seaview beach on Wednesday, said officials.

The shell was recovered near the Seaview police post.

The police officers posted there called the police bomb disposal squad and the Pakistan Navy officials. During examination by the bomb experts, it transpired that the shell contained no explosive material.

A police officer quoting the Navy experts said that such shells were used to create light in the sea.

It is made of wooden material and sometimes such empty wooden shells wash ashore on the beach, but there is no danger in it, the officials added.

321 held for violating ban

Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a total of 321 citizens and registered 114 FIRs against them for violation of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code and for hoarding masks, sanitizers, gloves, etc, in Sindh.

Statistics released by the police showed that a majority of the arrests were made in Karachi. As many as 267 citizens were arrested in Karachi, including 113 in South zone, 126 in East zone and 28 in West zone.

There were reports that the impact of the lockdown restrictions was gradually diminishing in the provincial capital as a large number of vehicles were seen on roads to the extent that sometimes it became difficult to pass through thoroughfares.
