Wonder Craft: Surprise cake

Published November 16, 2019

We often wonder how to surprise our friends with a unique present or something which could amaze them. So here we are with a unique idea — a little surprise cake.

If you have duct tape and it’s about to be finished, don’t throw the ring, because today, you will be using that empty ring in making this craft.

Things you need:

  1. Empty duct tape ring

  2. A piece of pink crepe paper, six-inch long and one-inch wide.

  3. White glue

  4. White, orange and pink foam sheet pieces

  5. Two pieces of cardboard, four-inch wide, four-inch long.

  6. Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cut two circles from the cardboard pieces according to the duct tape ring size (cut one a bit bigger than the other); also cut six-inch long and a centimetre wide strip from the same, picture 2.

  2. Glue the edges of the smaller circle and put the duct tape ring on it (our circular box made); then paste the strip on the edges of the bigger circle which will be the lid of the box, see pictures 3 and 4.

  3. Cut pink foam sheet according to the width of the circular box and its bottom, and paste it all over inside the box, picture 5.

  4. Cut a circle from the pink foam sheet and then cut its edges in melting shape, then paste it over the lid, picture 6 and 7.

  5. Cover the exterior of the ring in white foam sheet, see picture 8.

  6. Make fringe from the six-inch long and one-inch wide strips of pink crepe paper, picture 9.

  7. Paste the fringe around the lid and at the bottom of the box, picture 10.

  8. To make the candles, cut three-inch long, 1cm wide strip from white foam sheet, paste glue and make a roll. Then cut 1cm long flame-shaped piece from orange foam and paste it on top of white roll, see picture 11.

  9. Paste the candles on top of the lid.

Note: you can put anything in this cake (box), such as chocolates, candies or a small little present.
