QUETTA: Four militants were killed in an operation conducted by security forces in the Awaran area.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement on Sunday, a soldier was martyred and another injured in the heavy exchange of fire that took place during the operation.

Security forces had launched the operation in the mountainous area of Mashkay in Awaran district on the basis of intelligence reports.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from the terrorist hideouts, the ISPR said.

It said that the terrorists killed in the operation were involved in an attack on a Pakistan Army convoy in the Mashkay area in which five security personnel had lost their lives in July.

The terrorists killed belonged to the banned Baloch Liberation Army, the ISPR said.

In the operation, soldier Rimz Ali, 24, was martyred and Nike Muhammad Yaqoob received injuries. He was shifted to hospital for treatment.
