LAHORE: People belonging to all walks of life continued thronging Lahore railway station on Wednesday to have a glimpse of the Azadi Special Train being run by the Pakistan Railways in connection with the 70th Independence Day celebrations.

Folk artists, singers and musicians besides puppeteers accompanying the Azadi train remained attraction of a large number of schoolchildren, mostly in their uniforms.

Comprising five galleries and six floats projecting the Pakistan Movement, culture of all the provinces besides Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, the train tastefully portrays genesis of Pakistan.

At the Lahore railway station the train was received by PR additional general manager (traffic) and other officers on Tuesday night.

The special train started its journey from Margalla railway station in Islamabad on Aug 12 to reach Peshawar Cantt the same evening. After staying overnight at Peshawar, the train left for Rawalpindi on Aug 13 for a two-day stay there. It left Rawalpindi on Aug 15 to reach Lahore the same night.

From Lahore, it will leave on Thursday at 9am for Multan and after staying at Khanpur, Sukkur, Sibi, Quetta, Nawabshah, Tando Adam and Hyderabad, it would culminate its journey at Karachi on Aug 25, said a Railways spokesman here on Wednesday.
