Iranian drone allegedly on spying mission shot down 'deep inside' Balochistan

An unmanned Iranian drone allegedly on a spying mission was shot down by a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) JF-17 Thunder fighter jet in Balochistan's Panjgur area, official sources confirmed to DawnNews on Tuesday.
The officials said the unmanned aircraft was shot down by a JF-17 in the Parom area of Panjgur district after it ventured "deep inside Pakistani airspace" on a spying mission.
They spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to speak to media.
Security forces took custody of the debris after discovering the wreckage on Monday, but it is still unclear when the drone was shot down.
Security was tightened in the area following the incident. The PAF has declined to comment on the matter.
This is the second Iranian drone to have been reported shot down in 24 hours after US-coalition forces confirmed that they had downed an Iranian-made drone operated by pro-regime forces in southern Syria early Tuesday.
Iran's army chief recently warned that Tehran would strike 'militant safe havens' inside Pakistan ─ remarks that drew a strong protest from Islamabad ─ after 10 Iranian border guards were killed by militants allegedly from across the border earlier this year.

Unless the two sides officially confirm and comment on the event, nothing should be said about it.' One thing is clear, that Pakistan is getting embroiled in conflicts on all fronts, and this is nothing to rejoice about. It is a rather alarming situation.

Iran is making a big mistake while getting involve in these kind of activities. Pakistan never got involved in anti iran activities. Smugglers and terrorists are no body friends and if they are creating any problems at borders they should be dealt with through proper channels. Spying on country who considers you a friendly country is an idiotic act.

This by the way shows that the US drone strikes are sanctioned by Pakistan itself otherwise they would be shot down too, the Iranian drone is a carbon copy of the US drone Sentinel, flies at 38000 feet this will show them also that a JF 17 and if the need arises our new modified Nasr missile will take out a drone be it Iranian or Indian or US made or anyone.

It appears that following a befitting response to Afghanistan in the recent past and in response to Iran's unprofessional statements back then, this was an opportunity for Pakistan to demonstrate to all of the anti-CPEC nations, especially India, that fooling around will not be tolerated.

This is unfortunate. Iranians shouldn't have dared doing so. I trust this may have been a venture by the Indians with the collusion of Iranians to check the waters. This is the reward to the Pakistanis by Iran for being neutral in the conflict between SK and themselves. Terrible, they are driving Pakistan in the wrong direction. I think they (Iran, India and Afghanistan) are ganged up against Pakistan and will ultimately pay the price.

Apparently first Air to Air kill of JF-17 Thunder however true ability of the jet would come to light if it destroys any fighter jet. The US F-15E Strike Eagle jet also destroyed an armed Iranian drone over Syria and got global coverage but as Pakistan's media coverage around the globe is weak therefore JF-17's performance did not get much coverage. US cashes on these type of incidences and make millions on the sales of Jets.

Alright lets look at this from a different perspective. The drone was shot down around Panjgur area, which is almost 100 km from nearest border crossing at Kuhak. Given that the drone flies at about a 100 knots or 180km/h this means the drone was in Pakistani airspace for more than 100 minutes. This is not good response time and PAF needs to work on this. 100 minutes is a huge window to carry out a mission.

The Iranian are testing the tolerance of Pakistan. Acquiring a capability and using are two different things. Indians too have such capability but Pakistan has never allowed them to use it, similar message must be sent to all aspirant users. It seems that the militants are trying to ignitr a conflict between Iran and Pakistan. This should be taken head on by the Governments and resolved or adressed through collaboration instead of via childish back patting, posing and threats.
