PESHAWAR: Students enthralled the audience at a colourful annual rhyme competition while performing in groups with a background music at a local school here on Wednesday.

The audience, including parents, would burst into applause with each of the performances. Later, prizes were distributed among the winning classes and groups.

Students in colourful costumes sang rhymes with background music on a nicely decorated stage. The performances received appreciation from the audience.

The participating students used proper actions coupled with facial expressions and gestures to amuse the visitors. They played roles of different characters in their respective rhymes.

The judges of the competition distributed prizes among teachers of winning classes.

“Apart from curricular activities we have also been focusing on co-curricular activities as these are also important for intellectual and social development of students,” said Ms Bushra Israr, the headmistress of City School Nursery. She said that such activities also helped in building confidence of the students.
