Chinese president to inaugurate Gwadar projects

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattha has said several mega projects, including the Gwadar Economic Free Zone, West Bay Expressway and Gwadar airport, would be inaugurated during the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan.

During a briefing on the Gwadar Development Authority in Gwadar, he said: “The Pak-China Economic Corridor Project would not bear fruit without active cooperation of the people of Gwadar.”

The mega project would directly benefit the people of Balochistan, including that of Gwadar, he said.

On the instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, a housing scheme would be launched in Gwadar, besides development projects pertaining to education, health and water, he said. Mr Chattha said the provincial government would soon hand over ownership documents to the people of Shambay Ismail area of Gwadar. “The allotment of land in Pasni to the people who do not belong to Pasni has been cancelled,” he added.

Cancelling of land rights to non Gawader Balooch's is agood thing. Unless no choice, employment too be offered on the similar basis to Balooch's people. To bring peace to Balochstan, Pakistan should seal its border with Afghanistan. Uninterrupted free movement of Pathan's after authentic documentations will stop the curse of Middle East Sheikhdoms and India will stop and bring peace to the region.

Still no dates have been set for the visit of Chinese president, which has been getting postponed, and Gawadar port yet not complete, everything finalized. With 20 laborers killed, security for the Chinese president will be a matter of concern.

People of Pakistan instead on relying on Arabs or others must work very hard to establish cooperative businesses with a view to strengthen economy. Have cooperative business in milk, live stock, making laptops, hard discs, cell phones, cars, ready made road blocks, house ready made structutes, tents, 5 houses in each mohallas to have cooperative kitchens and place Pakistan on economic hub.

Planning is good, implementation according to the plan is what needs to be focused. We should learn this from UAE Leaders. Strict laws should be made, bribery should not be considered in any case. If everything goes smooth, 10 years period we can bring a lot of change that will benefit Baluchistan and eventually Pakistan.

The Yemen conflict and the UAE minister threatening to Pakistan is a conspiracy to stop President Xi's visit to Pakistan and not allow Gwadar port to be inaugurated. Once the Gwadar port opens, the whole of Middle East becomes irrelevant to the World.

Gwadar Port is extremely important for both China and Pakistan in terms of short land route for the former and economic development for the latter. This port will save China's exchequer to a large extent. China is the biggest oil importer from the Gulf countries and GP will cut down the import period from 12 to 3 days only. This corridor through Pakistan will connect China to central asian and european countries too. Extraordinary beneficial project for the two nations. On its part, Pakistani leadership instead of individual stakes must follow country's economic prosperity.

It is gonna be a Chinese funded port, designed and built by Chinese for Chinese imports and travel in Chinese or international ships which will dock at the port. All the material will travel up to China using the highway funded by Chinese. So Pak will get money for using their port and land. I guess that is the story. Am I missing something that the Pakistanis are being so so gaga about?

Gwadar project is a real opportunity for Balochistan. This is a huge economic project that could lead to additional developmental projects in due course of time. This project will surely bring prosperity to the provicne. The people of Balochistan should understand this and should not side with the miscreant who are trying to derail this opportunity.
