LAHORE: An exhibition of physics posters was held at the Government College University, Lahore, on the second day of the international conference on “Physics and Contemporary Needs”.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman inaugurated the poster exhibition comprising 50 research papers of postgraduate scholars participating in a three-day conference, says a press release.

Prof Rahman said the poster exhibition was a unique feature of international science conferences at the GCU, and young scholars who didn’t get a chance to read their papers at the conference due to shortage of time presented their papers in the form of posters.

He said the poster exhibitions didn’t only increase the presentation skills of researchers but also provided them a chance to discuss the scope of their research with eminent national and foreign scientists.

He said that Pakistani students had a great potential and they were doing quality research which was on a par with international standards.

He laid a stress on mutual collaboration between research and development organisations, departments and universities, adding that it was not possible for a single department to have all necessary equipment and research facilities.

Dr Muhammad Zakria Butt, the conference chairman and professor of Rafi Chair, said over 30 eminent physicists from all over Pakistan read their papers at four technical sessions of the conference on the second day.
